What to Expect from Hair Restoration Injections

Pattern baldness in either men or women could strike you unaware. You wake up one morning and your hair is a luxuriant, healthy head of hair, and the next, you’re catching hairs in the shower that are more than the normal amount, or your part is wider in photographs. It’s something that happens to all of us, and it’s completely okay to feel annoyed or even embarrassed about it.

At Head & Heart Health and Wellness, we help you regain that lost confidence by going back to holistic, regenerative treatments, which get your hair to grow back. They are dependent on your own healing ability, not surgery or chemicals. It’s actually quite simply a matter of getting your scalp revved up and remembering how to do something it already knows how.

If you’ve ever wondered about hair restoration but have no idea what happens when you’re treated, never mind. We’ll take you through it step-by-step so that you feel comfortable and know exactly what’s happening.

Two Main Treatment Options

There is no one size fits all when it comes to hair restoration. Every scalp is different, and that is why we have two primary options: microneedling and injections. Do one or both as you see fit based on what your hair is needing the most.

Microneedling

Microneedling is kind of a scary word, but don’t worry, it’s not. The device does look pretty high-tech, but it actually just feels like buzzing or tapping ever so lightly over your head, nothing frightening or painful. All those little micro-wounds stimulate your own body’s repair system and pump blood into your hair follicles.

We then incorporate a blend of hair-growth agents such as PRP, PRF, PDGF, or Exosomes. These travel into your scalp through micro-channels that have been opened up during treatment, nourishing directly where most needed. It’s delivering a power shot to your scalp that thins your hair less and makes it more robust over time.

Injections

With injections, we attack the source. We inject PRP, PRF, or PDGF exactly where you’re thinning. Those growth factors deliver the message to your follicles that it’s time to grow.

If you require rapid results or you’re treating small thinning areas, injections are an excellent choice. They deliver your follicles what they need, directly where they need it.

Microneedling targets the general well-being of your scalp, and injections provide an additional kick in the growth direction. It’s similar to horticulture; you have the healthiest plants when roots and soil are healthy.

What’s in the Treatments

You’ve probably heard acronyms PRP, PRF, PDGF, or Exosomes and wondered what they meant. Here is the shortened explanation.

We only draw a small amount of your blood and then spin it in a centrifuge to isolate the fraction with the highest concentration of platelets. Your platelets consist of natural factors for healing that will allow your tissue to repair and regenerate. These platelets, when applied to your scalp, stimulate hair follicle nourishment and re-stimulation.

PDGF is manufactured with the latest technology and nothing but an incredibly high concentration of growth factors, far beyond what your body could ever produce naturally. It’s sterile, precise, and so concentrated that you only need fewer treatments to get results.

Exosomes are small but potent. They work as little messengers that enable your cells to communicate with each other and heal. Applied after microneedling, they provide your follicles with a good kick to regrow themselves.

Preparation for Your Visit

A few easy measures before your visit will make your result even more gratifying:

  • Hydrate well for a couple of days beforehand.
  • Eat a healthy snack or meal before coming in, especially if you’re doing PRP or PRF.
  • Try taking Vitamin C (around 2,000 mg daily) leading up to your treatment. It can improve healing and the quality of your PRP.
  • Avoid anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen, blood thinners, alcohol, caffeine, and smoking for a couple of days before and after your appointment.
  • Rest well and come in well-hydrated.

If you have a cold, rash, or inflammation of the scalp, it is best to postpone.

After Your Treatment

Your scalp might be a little warm or sore after your visit. That is simply normal and just your natural body healing process. You can wash your hair that day, but not use color or other strong products for 24 hours.

If you do experience soreness, it’s fine to take Tylenol. Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen because those will interfere with the inflammation that is going to assist in healing your scalp. Some people do have a little bit of swelling or slight bruising at spots where they’ve been injected, but those will go away immediately.

We also offer treatments that can help speed recovery, like LED red light therapy, CO2 Lift Masks, or immune-boosting IVs and injections. These are optional, but they can make your scalp feel calmer and help your body bounce back faster.

When You’ll Start Seeing Results

Hair replacement is cumulative. You won’t wake up one morning with new hair, but you will begin to notice it a few months later. For most of our patients, that will be less shedding, a healthier scalp, or new baby hairs of teeny hairs coming in. With each treatment, it is more effective if you keep repeating it, and your results will continue to improve.

Every person’s timeline is slightly different, but most of all is that the process is aligned with your body, not against it. The goal is gradual, natural growth that sustains.

Head & Heart Health and Wellness is privileged to see the excitement when clients experience new growth and are empowered again. That is what we do.

If you are ready to start your own hair restoration journey, we would be more than happy to help you along the way. Schedule a consultation, and we will work to establish a plan that will suit you, your lifestyle, and your hair.
